1 DAY LEFT

It's so weird and amazing to look at my tickers and see only 1. I remember when I first started those and they read 265 or something. It was a lot of days to go, but now I have reached the last day....according to the tickers...who knows how many more I actually have left???

Breast pump!

A lot of you have suggested using a breast pump to help get things started...but I have one little problem. I don't have one. My plan was to rent one from the hospital and eventually buy one when I knew something about them and could get a better idea of what model I wanted. I guess I need to revise that plan. This is where you come in...

What pump should I buy?

I will be a stay-at-home-mom so I wont need to be mass pumping every day in the long run, but I know I would appreciate efficiency and quality vs. a difficult manual pump. I've heard that Medela are the best brand...is that right?

Please help!! Any and all advice will be much appreciated!!

And finally here is my (hopefully LAST) update...

How far along: 39 weeks, 6 days

Total Weight Gain: 10 million lbs....or something like that. (really only 35.5 but it feels like more..ugh)

Symptoms: Heartburn, braxton hicks, slightly swollen ankles, slight impatience and pure excitement.
Sleep: Fortunately I still sleep very well with almost no pain....its all about the Tempurpedic mattress!! Best investment ever!!!

Most recent Doctor’s Appt: 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Blood pressure was low and baby looked great. All good news.

Best Moment Last Week: Watching my cleaning lady scrub my whole house. She really helped to calm the nesting instincts I have but am too pregnant to act on. :)

Movement: Baby's movements have become more subtle since she is so cramped and her arms and legs are facing in. She gets the hiccups all the time.

Food Cravings: Nothing particular.

What I Miss: Being able to go out in public and not worry that my water could break at any second making it look like I peed my pants.

What am I looking forward to: GIVING BIRTH TO MY BABY GIRL!!!

Milestones: Reaching the last page of our pregnancy journal...now we're in the full term + pages....oh dear!!

How is Daddy? SUPER READY to meet his little girl. He just can't wait!!!!!

  1. Hi! I've been an AVENT user since the start. Medela was painful for me. AVENT single electronic pump was very helpful! I breasfed most of the time so it was only for when i needed to clear the milk when it was too much! loved the soft petal cover of the pump. very comfortable! my friend even bought the avent DUO! that saved her lots of time! All the best Prisc! ps: I think i'm gonna need your advice on something. Will email you! thanks! ;)

  2. My friend from college has an EXCELLENT blog, I remembered her reviewing a breast pump she loved. Here is the link to her breastfeeding section...

  3. Almost to the finish line!!! I can't believe it. My friend stays at home and uses the Medela Pump In Style dual pump. It's the nicest one I've seen out there and she loves it (I get to borrow it from her!). I think renting from the hospital is smart though just for the first month just to be sure you want to continue pumping.
    Please

  4. (sorry my comments act funky when I'm on my phone)

Please be sure to let us know when you go into labor, even if it's just a quick line.

  5. After doing lots of research, i opted for the Medela Freestyle. It comes with a hands free adapter so you can still hold your baby and do things while you pump. The price difference between that pump and the next one down is only like $50 so it seemed worth it to me. It also has a 2 cycle feature to help let down your milk then express it as quickly as possible.

    Thats just my 2 cents!

Glad to hear you are sleeping well and feeling well! Can't wait to see pics of Little Morgan!

  6. I'm not sure about breast pumps, but it just occurred to me that we learned in our childbirth classes that raspberry tea can induce labor. Our instructor told us to really avoid it before 37 weeks, but to drink up when you're due. I'm pretty sure I'll try it!

  7. I tried the nipple stimulation with a breast, didn´t start labor for me (didn´t have patience to do it like they recommend). But I read that if you start week 39 it can shorten the length of the pregnancy.
I bought the lanisinoh manual breast pump, but I have heard that Medela is more recognised as a brand. But the lansinoh works fine. There is not much of a price difference in them.

I was desperate after not sleeping for 2 weeks I tried castor oil, and it had no bad side effects, not one trip to the bathroom. But within 24 hours after the intake my water broke, not sure whether it had any effect or not. I´m a bit ashamed that I did take the castor oil before 40 weeks. But I was desperate.

  8. First time commenter: While pregnant with my son I purchased the Medela electric pump because that is the pump I heard was the best.

After having my son I found I HATED all the tubes and cords. I then purchased the Avent manual pump and LOVED it! I even purchased a second Avent manual pump and was able to pump both breasts at the same time to save time.

Avent Manual pump gets my vote....simple and inexpensive. EASY to clean and not a lot of extra parts. I believe they sell for about $50.

    Congratulations,
    Julie

  9. Breezing in and out between diaper changes, I have been checking on your blog when I can though! I can't believe you are still preggo! Hopefully the next post will be a welcome to the world Morgan!! I bought the medela pump in style for $280, but it didn't get a drop from me and I ended up having to rent a hospital grade pump to alleviate my engorgement. ERGH! So I'd recommendt renting a super spiffy one. The one I got is called Gold Standard or something Gold like that. It's awesome. It's $64 a month. Sorry but g2g, thinking of you though! Hurry up little girl!!! :)
